Dear Shark and Ocean Lovers,
This Thanksgiving I would like to give my thanks for your help saving sharks and protecting ocean ecosystems with Shark Stewards. I especially am grateful to you, the volunteers and supporters who are helping us save sharks and protect ocean ecosystems.
Land Sharks in Vegas
The DEMA dive show in Vegas was stimulating, with over 10,000 dive industry members and public. During the event we added over 750 signatures to our shark fin petition and added several new casinos and restaurants serving Shark Fin Soup to our growing list in Las Vegas. New casinos catering to Asian tourists point to Nevada as USA’s top shark fin consumer and the target of our next domestic campaign if the US Shark Fin Trade Elimination Act does not pass the US Congress.
Fundraising & Grants
Several companies generously donated scuba equipment and dive trips at DEMA for our fundraiser. Linked here are letters and a donation forms if you would like to help us get items donated for our auction to help us continue our work. We have also written several grants including another to the California Coastal Commission to build our Shark Education and Golden Gate MPA Watch outreach programs into 2017.
End of Year Thank You Party
Our end of year party is scheduled for December 15 at the Sports Basement Presidio from 630-830PM with libations, pupus and giant shark Jenga. I will also be displaying some of my prints on metal as a preview for a show next year. Bring a friend!
Patagonia gives back 1% of gross sales to earth and ocean causes like Shark Stewards every day. This friday Patagonia will give back 100%! If you are shopping and not surfing or diving, please visit Patagonia, and tell our home store in San Francisco thanks from Shark Stewards.

Supporting our National Marine Sanctuaries and Marine Protected Areas.
Now, more than ever, our Sanctuaries and MPAs need our support. Shark Stewards works in policy and public outreach to protect the critical marine ecosystems off California coastal waters and in Malaysia. With a potential reversal of Federal MPAs by the new administration, we must work harder than ever to protect our oceans.
