DESCRIPTION:Cleanup and Plastic Pollution Data Collection Day\n\nMay 23 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am\n\n\n\n\nJoin Shark Stewards Southern California team at Junipero Beach next to the San Gabriel Rivermouth. We set our table up on the edge of the bike path near the Saltwater Deck. \nVolunteers join us sharing shark information and cleaning up the beach and collecting data. \nFREE parking with code upon check-in. This is a very busy beach with lots of fitness activities\, runners\, walkers\, cyclists\, and beach goers who want to enjoy our beautiful California weather. \nWe clean up and collect data on the plastic that ends up in the parking lot and on the beach. Keep the beach and ocean clean. \nWaiver link\n0900-1100 am \nJunipero Beach\, 1 Junipero Ave. Long Beach\, CA 90803 \nPickers\, gloves and buckets available\, but bring your own\, or donate to help maintain our equipment. \n \nWHAT TO BRING\nLayered clothing\nsunscreen and hat\nsunglasses\nreusable water or drink container\nlunch or snacks if desired- no single use plastic please!\nsandals\, sneakers of beach shoes.\nCleanup supplies if you have them\nGather reusable cleanup supplies from home\, like a bucket and gardening gloves. Cleanup supplies\, as well as liability waivers\, will be available at each cleanup site if needed.\nShow up at our cleanup site at the designated time and day and sign in. Check in with on-site cleanup staff and start cleaning following safety briefing. Return cleanup supplies and data shaeets with trash for recycling or proper disposal.\nJoin our campaign to mitigate the environmental impact of plastic and runoff on our oceans and beaches and restore ocean health.\n  \nLearn about our research project\, bird watch and help restore this beautiful park.\nWe are a volunteer program relying on donations for cleanup materials.
