Did you know that whale sharks occasionally visit the waters of Southern California? Last year lucky whale watchers observed a rare sighting off Point Loma. At up to 61 feet (18 m) whale sharks are one of the few species of sharks that filter their food. The ocean’s largest fish, whale sharks diet consists almost exclusively of plankton and larvae.
