Shark Week Harbor Beach Cleanup Kona

Join us for a beach cleanup at the harbor and keep ocean and beach free from plastic. With our partners help keep the reef clean, the reef fish happy and the tiger sharks smiling. Make new friends and build our network!
Please join us for a Harborside Cleanup at Honokahau with Keep Puako Beautiful, Tan and Salty, The Marine Mammal Center, Jack’s Diving Locker and Shark Stewards.
This is the first of what we hope will become regular cleanups and data collection efforts at our favorite shark dive spot.
We will be installing a cigarette butt container and fishing line recycling bin at the gate entrance at the north end of the harbor, routinely collecting and recycling.
We will set up at the green space next to Jack’s pavilion at the SW edge of the parking lot in front of Jack’s.
This Saturday’s cleanup will be held form 0900-1100 (map and schedule below) meeting in front of Jack’s diving locker at Honokahau harbor.
SCHEDULE
Set up is at 0800.
0845 Check in
0900 Official Beginning cleanup
1000 Walk to bins at N end for photo (if installed)
1100 end and gather data
We will have a tent and tables set up on the green space next to Jack’s pavilion.
Across the harbor behind Jacks is the path where the bin is to be located.
1200 lunch at Harborside or go diving!
Post dive optional.
Pickers, gloves and buckets provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own!
