World Oceans Day at the United Nations
June 10, 2017 @ 2:00 am - 5:00 am
Celebrate the ocean on World Oceans Day! Join Shark Stewards in our 8th WOD, celebrating and taking action for Bay and ocean health in San Francisco and New York City- beginning June 5 at the United Nations World Oceans Conference.
We are proud to be participating with our partners of Stop Fish Bombing in the USA and Malaysia to bring attention and resolution to the destructive practice of fish bombing (aka dynamite or blast fishing). Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported fishing like this is destroying reefs, shark populations and marine ecosystems. Shark Stewards will be presenting solutions and resolutions to stop the war on the ocean at this conference.
Our Stop Fish Bombing! partners and network are applying solutions to suppress this destructive practice before the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 14 expires in 2020.
Take action for the ocean in the San Francisco Bay! On June 10 join us on a beach clean up at Aquatic Park in San Francisco as part of our ongoing marine debris and cigarette butt survey and clean up.
Volunteers welcome! Join us saving sharks and making the Bay plastic and butt free.
