International Ocean Film Festival- Postponed

Due to concerns for public safety The International Ocean Film Festival has been postponed until further notice.

We regret the circumstances causing this decision and will post to our followers any updates.  We are looking at a special screening this Sharktober with the IOFF.

Shark Stewards is hosting our 13th annual shark film block on Saturday March 14, and panel discussions.

From the Festival

Dear Friends of the IOFF,
It is with much sadness that the organizers of the IOFF have made the difficult decision to postpone the festival currently scheduled for March 12 – 15 at Cowell Theater due to the current status of the  COVID-19 virus. Out of an abundance of caution, we feel that this is the most prudent choice at this time to ensure the health and safety of our patrons, filmmakers and partners. A number of filmmakers had already canceled their travel to our event, and this number would likely only grow as the festival date approached, and recommendations are being made by health and public officials to stay away from large gatherings. Refunds will be issued to those who have purchased tickets thus far.
Our plan is the schedule the film festival at a later date in the year, so we can showcase the wonderful films that comprise our 2020 Official Selections. We will keep you posted on when that will be. We are grateful for your support and understanding. Stay tuned for further details.
In the meantime, please continue to support our mission by supporting the current Ocean Unite campaign of #Love30x30, an ongoing initiative to protect 30% of our oceans by 2030.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, OCEAN!

The mission of the IOFF is to save our oceans one film at a time. Since our inception in 2004, each year the IOFF features a four-day ocean engagement event for audiences from around the world. Through the power of visual storytelling and independent films, audiences of all ages are inspired to become better ocean stewards, and help to protect our oceans. As a year-round ocean conservation organization, the IOFF is proud to present films and post-screening discussions with film directors, producers and leading industry experts throughout the year. The upcoming 17th Annual IOFF will take place on March 12 – 15, 2020 at Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, as well as other theaters within the Bay Area. Films are currently being accepted for considerations.

We screen films of all genres that focus on the many varied aspects of the big, blue ocean. Subject matter ranges from, but is not limited to, marine wildlife, conservation efforts, ocean environments, coastal cultures, ocean sports and exploration, ocean heroes, and innovative technology designed to help protect the ocean.
