Its Sharktober- lets celebrate and save some sharks!

It is now year six of Shark Steward’s Sharktober events reaching nearly 10,000 directly in the Bay Area. Originally started in 2008 to motivate the public and leverage passage of the (now successful) CaliforniaShark Fin Ban, we are continuing to celebrate the return of ourwhite sharks to the Sanctuary.

This series of films, talks and education events educate and motivate the public and regulators for increased shark and marine protection. Our recent campaigns to urge airlines to drop shark fin from their cargo manifest has been hugely successful with 24 airlines dropping shark fin from their manifest.  Next target: United Airlines.
Please join me and the shark team for a series of events in the Bay Area (and out to the Farallon Islands) all month long beginning Sharktober 1 with a screening of Extinction Soup, and talk at Patagonia SF with partners All One Ocean.

Other events include Sharklife at the California Academy of Sciences October 9,Sharktoberfest at the Sanctuary October 18 and a Sharkoween October 30 with the San Francisco Green Film Festival. Event details here.
