Ms. Angela Rice United Airlines Managing Director of Global Environmental Affairs and Sustainability,
Ms. Sharon Kobat Executive Services, United Airlines Corporate Customer Care
Dear Ms. Rice, Ms. Kobat and whom it may concern,
In behalf of over 10,000 supporters of Shark Stewards, and far more in the social media sphere, we are again emailing requesting United Airlines to make a public statement regarding the carriage of shark fin.
We have traded emails with Ms Rice and other staff and have received statements from that United Airlines has not carried shark fin as cargo since 2008, despite information from watchdog groups in Hong Kong suggesting otherwise.
American Airlines has publicly announced (content below) that it will no longer transport shark fin in response to our partner organizations Pretoma and the Turtle Island Restoration Network, and public outcry.
We are requesting that United Airlines takes this opportunity support ocean sustainability and to make a positive public statement that United Airlines will not transport shark fin as cargo.
We would like to share this information to our partners and public network showing that United Airliners is indeed a world leader in sustainability.
Please find attached a 9500 signatures, petition of many United Airlines frequent flyers, Star Alliance members and Million Miler Premiere travelers in support of making this statement.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this with me, please do not hesitate to contact me at the phone or email below.
Sincerely,
