Blue Shark Protection Events Volunteer for Sharks Standing by Kids ————————————————————— We met our goal! Thanks to generous donors like you and a private foundation grant, we tripled our original funding for the Aquatic Park youth education and habitat protection program, and to support international blue shark protection. Thank you! 2019 is the Year of the Blue Shark Once the most common pelagic sharks globally, 20 million Blue sharks (Prionace glauca) are being killed for their fins each year and this large shark is now the most common species in the fin trade. Once thriving in all tropical and temperate oceans including coastal California, populations are plummeting and these beautiful and important sharks will disappear without our intervention.
