Panelists

Anika Ballent, Education Director – Algalita

Anika works at Algalita, a non-profit in Southern California dedicated to empowering young people to be critical thinkers who will shift the broken and unjust systems that are causing the plastic pollution crisis. Her day-to-day is focused on creating educational programs, she has a background in Earth and Space Sciences, and she loves to garden.

David McGuire, MEH & Founder – Shark Stewards

A marine biologist, ocean explorer and documentarian, David McGuire is the Founder and Director of Shark Stewards, an international non profit dedicated to saving endangered sharks and rays form the shark fin trade and overfishing, and protecting critical marine habitat. He is an author, documentary filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer.

Nic Esposito is a writer, publisher, community activist, urban farmer and circular economy professional. Nic has served as the City of Philadelphia’s Zero Waste and Litter Director and the East Kensington Neighbors Association President. He is currently the Head of Cities for the global litter intelligence company Litterati, the board president of the non-profit bookstore and publishing company The Head & The Hand and co-manager of Emerald Street Community Farm in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.
